PERTH, Australia (AP) -- Australia skipper Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bat as he chased a series-clinching victory in the second cricket test against New Zealand at the WACA on Friday.
Australia retained an unchanged lineup following its 208-run win in the first test at the Gabba in Brisbane on Monday.
New Zealand made one change, with 23-year-old Matt Henry replacing injured allrounder James Neesham. Tim Southee recovered from a back injury that hampered him in Brisbane to hold his place in the XI.
The teams have played six previous tests at the WACA, with Australia winning two and New Zealand one, along with three draws.
