MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Prosecutors in Mexico say a Canadian couple has been found dead at a hotel near the resort city of Playa de Carmen, south of Cancun.
An official of the prosecutors' office in the Caribbean coast state of Quintana Roo said Wednesday the couple was found dead in a whirlpool spa. The official was not authorized to be quoted by name.
She said there were no signs of violence, and that autopsies indicated the man died of a heart attack and the woman died of asphyxia by submersion.
The official said the deaths on Monday appeared to be accidental and linked, suggesting the man's heart attack may have somehow caused the woman to drown.
Officials did not release the victims' names or hometowns.
