Howard Stern caller known as Hillbilly Jack dies in fire

ROCHESTER, Pa. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania man who appeared on "The Howard Stern Show" as Hillbilly Jack has died in a fire that began when he fell asleep while cooking.

Neighbors tell the Beaver County Times that Hillbilly Jack Rushman was a local celebrity because of Stern's radio show. Rushman was a member of the Wack Pack -- a group of outrageous personalities who called or appeared on Stern's show.

Beaver County coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi says the 55-year-old died of thermal and inhalation injuries from the fire Saturday night.

His brother, Jonas Rushman, tells The Associated Press that Jack began cooking something on the stove and then fell asleep in a chair.

Neighbor Chad Scobie says Rushman was a "funny and interesting" guy.
