MANILA, Philippines (AP) -- Philippine and Malaysian officials say a Malaysian restaurant manager has been freed by Abu Sayyaf militants after six months of jungle captivity, but that her compatriot remains in the kidnappers' custody.

A Philippine military officer who helps monitor Muslim militants in the south says Thien Nyuk Fun was freed by Abu Sayyaf militants late Sunday in Indanan town in Sulu province then brought by boat to Malaysia's Sabah state on Borneo Island.

The officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to reporters, said Monday that another Malaysian, Bernard Then Ted Fen, remains in the custody of the militants led by Alhabsy Misaya in Sulu province.

The two Malaysians were seized at gunpoint in a restaurant in Sandakan city in Sabah in May.
