Weather to be cooler, wetter in northern, northeastern Taiwan

Taipei, Nov. 1 (CNA) The weather in northern and northeastern parts of Taiwan will be cooler and wetter on Monday under the influence of the northeast monsoon, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) forecast Sunday. Expecting the wind to become stronger, the bureau predicted that temperatures in the north and northeast will drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, and that the rain there will be havier. In central and southern Taiwan, showers are expected to arrive later Monday afternoon, the CWB said. Daytime highs will drop to 22-24 degrees Celsius in the north Monday, while temperatures in the south will remain unchanged at around 30 degrees, the CWB forecast. However, people in the south could experience a large difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures, with temperatures in the early morning and night hours expected to drop to 21-22 degrees, it said. The weather will not improve in the west until Nov. 5, when there will still be scattered showers in the east, the CWB predicted, adding that the sky will not become clear and sunny until that day or the next.
