Taiwan's largest travel fair to feature record-high prizes

Taipei, Oct. 28 (CNA) The 2015 Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF), the largest annual travel fair in Taiwan, will give out prizes with a record-high value of NT$15 million (US$461,970) during the Nov. 6-9 event, the organizers said Wednesday. More than 50 prizewinners will be chosen through a lucky draw every day during the fair, which will be held in Hall 1 and Hall 3 of the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), the Taiwan Visitor's Association said. The biggest prize up for grabs is a business-class return ticket for any destination on the U.S. west coast via Tokyo, the association said, adding that visitors will also have a chance to win tickets for China Airlines, EVA Air, JAL, ANA, Trans Asia Airways, V Air, and other carriers. The fair will feature 1,450 booths from more than 60 countries in hopes of promoting the travel market, it said. Last year, 337,000 people visited the fair, creating business transactions worth over NT$2 billion, according to the association. It said it hopes to attract even more visitors this time, adding that during the event, tourism units, airlines and travel agencies will present a variety of bargain products, while starred hotels will offer vouchers or discounts for meals, rooms, and afternoon tea.
