CANBERRA, Australia (AP) -- Kane Williamson scored with 68 as New Zealand tuned up for its first test against Australia with a drawn tour match Sunday against a Cricket Australia XI.
The composite side declared at its overnight total of 325-4 after several Australian test candidates shone on the first day of the two-day match, and New Zealand was 368-7 after a valuable day of batting on a docile pitch at the Manuka Oval.
Williamson hit 13 fours in his 68, compiled from 80 balls, while New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum made 58 with four fours and three sixes. Mark Craig scored 60 and Hamish Rutherford and B.J. Watling both had 41.
Australia fast bowler Peter Siddle bowled well, conceding only 34 runs from 13 overs.
