NEW DELHI (AP) -- One of India's best left-arm pace bowlers has retired from international cricket.
Zaheer Khan made the announcement Thursday, saying he "may not last the rigors of bowling nearly 18 overs a day."
The 37-year-old Zaheer, who took 311 wickets from 92 tests, 282 from 200 ODIs and 17 from 17 Twenty20 games, played in three World Cups for India. He was a member of the World Cup-winning squad in 2011 and the runner-up team in 2003.
Zaheer's last test was against New Zealand in Wellington last year, while his last ODI was against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in 2012.
Zaheer will play in next year's Indian Premier League in April-May.
