LONDON (AP) -- The Latest at the Rugby World Cup (all times local):
Blair Cowan has been thrown straight into Scotland's team for the Rugby World Cup game against South Africa on Saturday, two days after being called into the squad as an injury replacement.
With John Hardie still recovering from a concussion, fellow New Zealand-born flanker Cowan gets a start on the openside. Key backs Finn Russell and Mark Bennett are out injured, so flyhalf Duncan Weir and center Richie Vernon start.
A fit-again Jonathan Joseph has been restored to England's midfield, and Sam Burgess dropped to the reserves for the must-win match against Australia in the Rugby World Cup on Saturday.
Joseph's remarkably quick recovery from a pectoral injury in the tournament-opening win over Fiji means the midfield in that game is restored, with Joseph at outside center and Brad Barritt on his inside following the 28-25 loss to Wales last weekend.
Owen Farrell, who replaced George Ford at No. 10 for the Wales match and kicked flawlessly, has been retained.
With Billy Vunipola out of the tournament with a knee injury, and lock Courtney Lawes struggling with his own knee complaint, Ben Morgan starts at No. 8, and Joe Launchbury in the second row.
Australia picked the same XV which beat Fiji 28-13 in Cardiff.
