MRT curtailed, buses suspend services in greater Taipei

Taipei, Sept. 28 (CNA) Taipei's mass rapid transit (MRT) system suspended services on some of its sections Monday, while buses in Taipei and New Taipei also stopped services Monday due to Typhoon Dujuan. The entire MRT Wenhu Line (???) and the section between Yuanshan (??) and Tamsui (??) on the Tamsui-Xinyi Line suspended services from 4:45 p.m. because of the strong gusting wind brought by the typhoon, according to the Taipei Rapid Transit Corp. The Xinbeitou (???) and Xiaobitan (???) stations have also been closed, the company said, adding that overground metro services will resume after the weather conditions are deemed safe. Meanwhile, the underground MRT lines will remain operational, the company said. From 7 p.m., all bus services in Taipei and New Taipei were also suspended. Department stores in northern Taiwan also began to close as early as 5 p.m. Monday as Typhoon Dujuan made landfall on Taiwan. (By Christie Chen)
