Four Chinese indicted for entering Taiwan illegally

Taipei, Sept. 25 (CNA) Four Chinese men were indicted for entering Taiwan illegally, the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office said Friday. The prosecutors said three Chinese men surnamed Lu, Shi and Su, as well as the forth one surnamed Wang -- who arrived in Taiwan last year on a tour but overstayed -- pooled their money to buy the unregistered motor boat. Three of them left Shandong Province Aug. 3 and sailed southwards to Taiwan. The boat arrived in the Taiwan Strait in early September, but due to a loss of power and heavy seas, the boat drifted into waters off Taoyuan. The men finally had to contact Wang in Taiwan, who asked for assistance from a Taiwanese fishermen who alerted the authorities. The four claimed they did not enter Taiwan illegally, but the Taoyuan prosecutors did not believe their claim and indicted them for offenses under the Immigration Act.
