Sea warning possible for Tropical Storm Dujuan

Taipei, Sept. 25 (CNA) The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Friday that it did not rule out the possibility of issuing a sea warning for Tropical Storm Dujuan Sept. 27 if it maintains its current path. The storm could be closest to Taiwan between Sept. 27-28 as it passes off northern Taiwan, the bureau said. It could continue picking up strength on its approach to the country, forecasters warned, predicting high chances of rain in northern, central and eastern Taiwan. As of 8 a.m. Friday, Dujuan was centered 1,230 kilometers east-southeast of Eluanbi, the southernmost tip of Taiwan, moving at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour in a north-northwesterly direction, according to the bureau. With a radius of 200 kilometers, the storm's maximum sustained winds were estimated at 101 kph, with gusts of up to 126 kph, bureau data showed. While many people are eagerly anticipating moon watching and the magnificent sight of surging tides during the Mid-Autumn holiday weekend Sept. 26-28, the CWB warned of possible storm surges near seashores and flooding along riverbanks due to the storm.
