Online system can show whether houses are located on faultlines

Taipei, Sept. 17 (CNA) The government has provided an online system that allows people to check whether their home sits on a faultline, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said Thursday. Those interested can enter the address of their house at http://fault.moeacgs.gov.tw/MgFault/Home/pageMap?LFun=1 to see if it is located near a faultline. If they have any misgivings over what they find, they can ask technicians to help check the exact distance from their house to the faultline and assess the possible risk. The publication of the web page is in response to the frequent earthquakes that have rocked Taiwan recently, especially in the eastern part of the country. (By Huang Chiao-wen and Lilian Wu)
