Sulzer says nine-month sales rose 24 percent, expects similar growth

Swiss engineering company Sulzer AG said Tuesday that new orders for the first nine months of the year rose 24 percent and it expects similar growth to continue for the forseeable future.
The company posted orders of 836.3 million Swiss francs (US$662.2 million; euro664.7 million) for the period. Sulzer didn't provide a comparative figure, nor did it provide quarterly figures.
"Sulzer can expect a good order intake also for the last quarter of 2006," the company said in a statement. "This is not only due to the combination of continuing high level of capital expenditures in the oil and gas sector but also to the accelerating capacity expansions by power utilities and other industries."
Sulzer shares rose 1.9 percent to 1,050 Swiss francs (US$831.45; euro660.77) in Zurich.
