MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- Cricket Australia says test opener and newly-appointed vice-captain David Warner will miss the team's two-test tour of Bangladesh because of a fractured left thumb.
Warner sustained the injury while batting at Lord's in the second one-day international against England on Sept. 5. He won't require surgery and is hoping to be fit for Australia's home series against New Zealand in November.
Australia plays Bangladesh in a three-day tour match in Fatullah beginning Oct. 3 before tests in the coastal city of Chittagong from Oct. 9 and in the capital Dhaka beginning Oct. 17.
It will be the third test series between the two countries and the first since Australia's 2-0 victory in Bangladesh in 2006.
