PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Officials in Philadelphia say that Pope Francis will participate in two parades during his two-day visitt and that more tickets will be made available for his public events.
Organizers on Thursday scrambled to stifle the outcry that occurred after they announced the previous day that anyone who wanted to be within five blocks of the pope for his Sept. 27 outside Mass needed a ticket.
The World Meeting executive director says 10,000 tickets would be made available to the public for Francis' speech Sept. 26 at Independence Hall. That's double the number announced Wednesday.
An additional 10,000 tickets each will be made available for a family festival and the Mass. Organizers said earlier that the largest percentage of tickets for the Mass would be reserved for Philadelphia-area parishioners.
