PATERSON, N.J. (AP) -- Hundreds of young people eager to see popular rap artist Fetty Wap at a free concert in his hometown of Paterson, New Jersey, have turned out for the event.
The Record reported (http://bit.ly/1JAwKHM ) teens lining up to see the artist Thursday were excited about his performance. Some were dancing to blaring music. Others strained to catch free T-shirts tossed at them.
Fetty Wap, born Willie Maxwell, has had a lot of success without releasing an album.
His hit "Trap Queen" peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has sold 2.2 million tracks.
Officials had worried they'd be swamped by teens for the show but 500 tickets remained unclaimed Wednesday.
The newspaper reported security was heavy.
