MOSCOW (AP) -- Russian news agencies say more than 1.5 tons of food intended for a BMW car racing team coming to Moscow has been destroyed because of improper import documentation.
The BMW team is to take part in races beginning Friday that are part of the DTM series for German automobiles.
The reports Thursday said the food was destroyed earlier in the week.
In recent weeks, Russia has made a public show of destroying tons of food brought into the country from the West in violation of bans imposed by Russia last year in response to Western sanctions over the Ukraine crisis.
The state news agency RIA-Novosti quoted BMW representative Jorg Kottmeier as saying the team would still participate in the competition despite the loss of its catered food.
