Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je will embark on a Shanghai-Taipei City Forum discussion later in the day aimed at advancing city-to-city ties, where Shanghai Mayor Yang Xiong is expected to host a welcoming reception prior to the beginning of talks, reports said Monday.

Ko will head a delegation of more than 30 city officials and councilors for the three-day visit. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s food and media conglomerate Want Want China Times Group Chairman Tsai Eng-meng is also expected to participate in the event.

Representatives of the two cities are expected to sign four memoranda of understanding on cooperation plans, including in the fields of electronic ticketing and civil service development.

The two cities will also promote exchanges and cooperation between Taipei's Zhongshan district and Shanghai's Minxing district, and between Taipei's Zhongzheng district and Shanghai's Jing'an district, according to the Taipei city government.

Ko is expected to visit the Landseed International Hospital in Shanghai on Wednesday, a medical facility funded entirely by Taiwanese businesses in China.
