Foreign ministry urges caution in Turkey after attacks

Taipei, Aug. 12 (CNA) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Wednesday that although it maintains a yellow travel advisory for Turkey, people traveling there should pay attention to their safety.
Under the ministry's four-tier travel advisory system -- gray, yellow, orange and red, listed in order of severity -- the yellow level serves to remind people to exercise caution and review whether to travel to that destination.
The ministry noted that two attacks took place in Istanbul on Aug. 10. Those who were responsible for attacks on U.S. Consulate -- the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front -- attacked U.S. Embassy In Ankara in 2013.
A police station in Istanbul was also attacked by a vehicle laden with explosives, killing a police officer. (By Tang Pei-chun and Lilian Wu)
