SYDNEY (AP) -- Canterbury overcame an early 10-0 deficit to hand Brisbane its second consecutive loss in the National Rugby League, beating the Broncos 18-16.
North Queensland, which had a chance to move into first place with a win Saturday, was beaten 30-18 by Cronulla, leaving the Cowboys level on 34 points with the Broncos but behind on points differential.
Manly's move from near last place to the top eight continued with a 28-8 win over the defending champion South Sydney Rabbitohs. Peta Hiku scored three tries for the winners.
In another Saturday match, St. George Illawarra beat the New Zealand Warriors 36-0.
The third-place Sydney Roosters will attempt to move to within two points of the leaders when they play Newcastle in one of two Sunday matches.
