MANILA, Philippines (AP) -- The Filipino-American co-director of the highly successful animated movie "Inside Out" says it's a dream come true for him to share with Filipinos a film he helped create.
Ronnie del Carmen is a former advertising art director who migrated to the U.S. in 1989 at 29. He said in Manila on Friday it's surreal to be home as the movie is opening because he only used to be a film buff growing up in the Philippines and never expected to be doing movies.
He says the film he and director Peter Docter also co-wrote draws from both of their and their children's childhood experiences. The movie is set in the mind of 11-year-old Riley, who moves with her family from the Minnesota of her youth to San Francisco.
