Takuya Kimura, John Woo commercial called 'dream pair' production

Tokyo, July 26 (CNA) The Japanese media has been touting a commercial directed by Hong Kong's John Woo and starring popular Japanese actor Takuya Kimura as the product of a "dream pair."
At the invitation of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Kimura visited Taiwan July 11-14 to shoot the commercial "I Love Taiwan," which is aimed mainly at Japanese tourists. It was the first time that Kimura and Woo worked together on a production.
In the commercial, which will be released in October, Kimura introduces Taiwan's renowned xialongbao (steamed dumplings), mango ice, oolong tea and other gourmet food and attractions.
The commercial was shot at a hot springs resort in New Taipei, the Neihu flower market and Shih Chien University in Taipei, and other locations.
Japanese media and websites, including Nikkan Sports and Sankei Sports, ran stories about the commercial Sunday, saying the work between Woo and Kimura was a "miraculous cooperation."
In a behind-the-scenes video, the 42-year-old Japanese star said he was surprised and delighted by the hospitality of the Taiwanese people during his July visit to Taiwan.
He also said he hoped to work with Woo on other productions.
The actor is best known for his roles in several TV hit series such as the legal drama "Hero" and others, including "Love Generation," "Long Vacation" and "Beautiful Life."
He is also one of the five members of the band SMAP, which has released more than 20 studio albums since its debut in 1991. (By Yang Ming-chu and Christie Chen)
