SACRAMENTO, California (AP) -- Samoa flyhalf Patrick Fa'apale kicked a tying penalty in the final minute to complete a rally from a 17-point deficit to force a 30-30 draw against Fiji in the Pacific Nations Cup on Saturday.
Fiji led 27-10 after 51 minutes before Samoa launched a dogged comeback, tying up the match with tries to prop Anthony Perenise, center Paul Perez -- who bagged a double -- and T.J. Ioane.
The Fijians edged ahead again, 30-27, with a penalty to Ben Volavola in the 75th minute but Fa'apale nervelessly slotted the final goal to complete a thrilling game.
Fiji scored tries through Leone Nakarawa, Metuisela Talebula and Gabiriele Lovbalavu in the match at Bonney Field in Sacramento, California.
Earlier, Tonga beat Canada 28-18.
