Tsai to promote local traditions through activity

Democratic Progressive Party Chairperson Tsai Ing-wen will take part in an activity that promotes local traditions in front of the Taipei City Hall square this coming Saturday, reports said Thursday.

“Light up Taiwan” will begin in the afternoon and last through the evening, with activities to include traditional board games, handicrafts, postcard making, and among other things.

Tsai will be present along with the local music band “Nasyy,” who will play her campaigning song in preparation for the 2016 presidential election.

Another highlight of the event will be the spectacular “maker workshop” that showcases DIY handicrafts using laser cutting instrument.

The weekend activity will also host a flea market where collectors and buyers can come to look for bargains on antiquated trinkets and used items for trade.

According to the DPP, there will be a specialized booth set up to provide barber services, where those willing to show your support by going for the aptly-named “Tsai hairstyle” will receive a special “Light up Taiwan” wristband as souvenir.

The Saturday event will begin from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
