60,000 Indonesians celebrate Eid al-Fitr at Taipei main station

Eid al-Fitr in Islam culture is like Chinese New Year in Chinese culture. 60,000 Indonesian new immigrants gathered at Taipei main station to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan. The Taiwan Railway Administration also put up signs in Indonesian, and provided Indonesian announcements on the Ramadan feast. An Indonesian worker said: “Thank you, Taiwan,” with a big smile on her face.

The National Taiwan Museum also opened for free yesterday, inviting the new immigrants and migrant workers to visit the museum, and provided multi-language guide service. A caregiver named Rini said this was her first time here and she was surprised the museum provided an Indonesian guide for the migrant workers.
