EVA Air to reschedule flight due to volcanic activity in Indonesia

Taipei, July 16 (CNA) EVA Air said Thursday its flight BR231 originally scheduled to depart 6:30 p.m. today from Taoyuan to the Indonesian city of Surabaya will be delayed until 10 a.m. Friday as plumes of volcanic ash spewing from an active volcano in the Southeast Asian country has forced a shutdown of the local airport. Authorities of the Juanda International Airport ordered a closure between 1:30 p.m and 8:30 p.m. (Indonesian time) Thursday due to increased volcanic activity from Mount Raung, which has been erupting in recent weeks. Meanwhile, EVA Air said its other flights to Japan are not affected by Typhoon Nangka, which has caused flight disruptions for both China Airlines and TransAsia Airways. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
