70 years back in time in Changhua

Taipei, July 15 (CNA) An exhibition of nearly 100 photos to mark the Republic of China's victory over Japan 70 years ago opened Wednesday at National Changhua Living Art Center, depicting life during the eight-year war. "Although these photos have already been exhibited in northern Taiwan, Changhua is the first spot of this traveling exhibition," said C.D. Liang (???), director of sales at CNA. Liang added that in addition to depicting the history of the war, it also focuses on civilian life, telling stories about the sacrifices made by the people caught up in the conflict. Various topics are covered, including women sewing clothes for soldiers and the drama of the war, all of them serving as witness to people's wartime lives. Aside from the photos, oil paintings by the late Taiwanese activist Chiang Wei-shui (???) have also been provided by the Chiang Wei-shui Cultural Foundation, to give visitors a better understanding of Chiang's contribution to the promotion of Taiwanese culture. The exhibition is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and organized by CNA. It will stay at the National Chianghua Living Art Center until Aug. 2 and will later move to National Tainan Living Art Center and National Hsinchu Living Art Center. (By Ken Chao)
