More medical aid flows in for burn victims of water park inferno

Taipei, July 12 (CNA) A shipment of artificial skin donated by a Japanese business group for the treatment of people burned in a June 27 dust explosion at a water part in New Taipei, arrived in Taiwan Sunday and will be distributed to 16 medical centers and hospitals treating the victims.
The 469 pieces of Pelnac artificial dermis were donated by Gunze Ltd., with a total value surpassing 23 million Japanese yen (US$187,000), according to the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China.
As soon as delivery is taken of the material at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport later in the day, it will be shipped to the medical centers and hospitals, the Red Cross said.
The donation was made via its Japanese counterpart, the Red Cross said, noting that it was the second donation from Japan since the blast that has so far claimed five lives and left nearly 500 people injured, of whom over 200 still are in critical condition.
Other donors of medical supplies to Taiwan since the explosion include China's Red Cross and the Singapore government. The materials include synthetic dressings and artificial skin, as well as ointments for burn and skin treatment, according to the Red Cross.
A shipment of cadaver skin from the Netherlands for the treatment of the burn victims has also arrived on July 4. (By Chen Ching-fang, Bien Chin-feng and Elizabeth Hsu)
