Sea warning for Tropical Storm Linfa issued

Taipei, July 6 (CNA) The Central Weather Bureau on Morning issued a sea warning for Tropical Storm Linfa, the first expected to directly affect Taiwan so far this year. As of 8 a.m., the storm was centered 400 kilometers south-southwest of Eluanbi, Taiwan's southernmost tip, moving at a speed of 6-9 kilometers in a northerly direction, the bureau said. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 83 kph, with gusts of up to 108 kph. The bureau advised ships operating in the Bashi Channel and waters near Dongsha Islands (Pratas Islands) to heighten their alert. The outer current of Linfa is expected to bring strong wind to Hengchun peninsula, Taiwan's southwest coast, east coast, outlying Orchid Island and Green Island, and people should be extra cautious while going to the seaside, the bureau said.
