Electronic Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan residents adds ID number

Electronic Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan residents adds ID number

The Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China (MPS) announced that the Electronic Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan residents will be available for application in Fujian Province, Hong Kong, and Macao on July 6.
The new electronic card will continue the use of an ID which is fixed for life, with the Taiwanese ID and name on the back.

Andrew Hsia, the Mainland Affairs Council minister, indicated that although Chinese officials have informed Taiwan of the start of the Electronic Mainland Travel Permit program, many Taiwanese residents still have doubts about the electronic card, and hope to receive further clarification of the policy.
A man surnamed Hsu was the first Taiwanese to enter Shanghai under the new policy yesterday. He kept saying that he only spent 15 seconds at customs and that it was really convenient.
