New Immigrant Female Association holds free books event

The New Immigrant Female Association held a “New Immigrant Free Book” event. The population of new immigrants has reached 500,000, and due to the long hours of using tablets, computers and smart phones, the reading ability of kids has worsened from years ago. In order to improve foreign-born Taiwanese students' reading ability, the director-general of the New Immigrant Female Association, Lee Yen-show, said that they are going to donate books to the foreign-born Taiwanese in New Taipei City and aim to make this event national.

Hung Hsiu-chu, the vice speaker of the Legislative Yuan, participated in the event, and indicated that she really likes joining the speech and story-telling contest, and she really hopes to take part in the verbal books project for the new immigrants.

Hung said most of the foreign-born Taiwanese have a very rich potential, and reading is a good way of cultivating their personality and values.
