Injuries rise to 524 as event organizer banned from leaving country

Taipei, June 28 (CNA)
The number of people injured in an explosion during a party on Saturday rose to 524 as prosecutors banned the event's organizer from leaving the country after questioning him Sunday.
Ministry of Health and Welfare officials said as of 14:04 p.m., a total of 524 people had been sent to 43 hospitals across the island for treatment, with 194 remaining in critical condition.
Prosecutors took in the organizer of the "Color Play Asia" party, Lu Chung-chi, head of the local company, at the Formosa Fun Coast Water Park in New Taipei's Bali District for questioning.
After questioning Lu, the Taipei Shilin District Prosecutors Office released him on bail of NT$1 million (US$32,000) and prohibited him from leaving the country. Lu must also report to local police regularly.
Also banned from leaving the country was the company's hardware technician Chiu Po-ming, who was released on a bond of NT$300,000. The explosion and fire at the water park occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, when a stage at the park caught fire after flammable powder apparently exploded in the air.
