Taipei Metro turnstiles to change to piano sounds

Taipei, June 27 (CNA)
From Sunday, people will no longer hear a beep sound but will instead hear a piano sound when going through the turnstiles on the Taipei Metro system, Taipei Rapid Transit Corp.(TRTC) said Saturday.
Passengers using regular EasyCards will hear one "dang" sound, while those using other types of EasyCards will hear two "dang" sounds, TRTC said.
If passengers hear a "dang lang" sound, that will mean the value on their EasyCards is less than NT$100.
Meanwhile, a "ding ding" sound means that some problems have occurred with the EasyCard, and passengers should check with station staff.
For the needs and safety of visually impaired passengers, the barrier-free turnstiles will maintain their vocal reminder and will not change to piano sounds, TRTC said. (By Huang Li-yun and Y.F. Low)
