Myanmar sets up trade office in Taiwan

Taipei, June 24 (CNA) Myanmar established a trade office in Taiwan earlier this week to promote bilateral trade relations, a move welcomed by Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a statement Wednesday, the ministry said the Myanmar Trade Office opened June 22 in Taipei and is headed by Thet Lwin Oo from Myanmar's Ministry of Commerce.
The ministry said it will work closely with the office to develop mutually beneficial relations.
The Myanmar Trade Office will be responsible for promoting bilateral trade, investment, business, transportation, tourism, and agriculture cooperation, the ministry said.
Myanmar, a country of 51 million people in Southeast Asia, does not have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan. (By Elaine Hou)
