Champion mixologist presents special cocktails at Shangari-la's Hotel
This summer, World Champion Mixologist Tom Walker is coming to town to present his award-winning cocktail selections to shake off the summer heat in three different lounges at Marco Polo Lounge on June 25-26 at Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei! During his visit he will also hold two special classes at Li Bai Lounge and the Lobby Court to teach some easy home-made cocktail that will please one’s spirit amidst the hustle and bustle of city life! At the age of 28, Tom Walker cemented his reputation at the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition 2014, triumphing over 26 of the finest mixologists around the world with his refreshing cocktail “Maid in Cuba” inspired by the Cuban history of BACARDÍ and inspired by the movie, Maid, in New York. This winning cocktail made with Bacardi Superior, lime juice, mint, cucumber and soda water, features a perfect balance of flavors and a cool refreshing taste.
During his first ever visit to Taipei, he will host a Whiskey cocktail class in Li Bai Lounge (6F) from 2 pm to 4 pm on 6/25 and a Gin cocktail class at Lobby Court (1F) from 2pm to 4pm on 6/26, introducing his winning cocktails to Taipei drinkers. In addition, guests can also enjoy his signature cocktails and the stunning skyline of Taipei at the Marco Polo Lounge (38F) in the evening over these two dates.
Sharing the Charm of Cocktails
After graduating from the University of Sunderland, Teesside in 2008, Tom begun his first bartending job. From everyday duty collecting glasses and other basic chores, he gained experience and knowledge in bartending step by step.
After years of experiences in various countries and different bars, he finally joined one of the most famous bars in New York, Attoboy. This opportunity opened up a new horizon for his professional career in an International arena.
During his visit, he will present not only his award-winning cocktail-Maid in Cuba; but also some signature drinks that he serves at the Attoboy as well as bringing a blend of authenticity and classic flavours to Taipei. The entrance fee on 6/25-26 from 9 pm- 12 pm in Marco Polo Lounge is NT$450 including one drink per person at the scene; NT$600 including two drinks for booking in advance. Guests can also gain some basic bartending skills by attending his whiskey cocktail class in Li Bai Lounge and/or a gin class at Lobby Court at the price of NT$480+10% per person. The classes will showcase some cocktails that one can easily compose at home along with easy skills to make your own signature cocktails. As the seats are limited, advance reservations are encouraged!
