No problem to live 20 more years: Dalai Lama

Dharamshala, June 21 (CNA)
The Dalai Lama said Sunday that he will have no problem living "20 more years." The spiritual leader of the exiled Tibetans who turned 80 in Tibetan calendar Sunday received blessings from around 10,000 people, including his countrymen and tourists in Dharamshala, the mountainous capital of the exiled Tibetan government in northern India. He said at a Dharma assembly in celebration of his 80-year birthday that judging from his health, it will not be a problem for him to live "20 more years" to loud applause from the audience. The Dalai Lama later delivered a 30-minute speech that focused on universal responsibilities, mercy and the teachings of the Buddha, according to the exiled Tibetan government, known as the Central Tibetan Administration. He also received blessings from his Taiwanese followers via video conference.
Lobsang Sangay, the head of the Tibetan government-in-exile, told CNA that celebration activities will be held around the world for about one year, and "Taiwan will of course be included." The Dalai Lama told a visiting Taiwanese delegation composed mostly of religious groups in March that he will be "very glad to meet his long-term friends in Taiwan." The groups offered him an invitation to visit Taiwan. The Dalai Lama will visit the United Kingdom in late June and the United States in earlier July.
