SEATTLE (AP) -- San Jose's Matias Perez Garcia set up Sanna Nyassi's first-half goal, and then scored in the second half to help the Earthquakes win 2-0 at Major League Soccer-leading Seattle on Saturday.
Nyassi's goal, coming midway through the 28th minute, was only his second of the year while Garcia's 73rd-minute goal was his first.
The Sounders were without four players who had accounted for 18 of their league-high 23 goals. Clint Dempsey (seven goals) served the first game of a three-game suspension handed down for an animated dispute with a referee in a mid-week U.S. Open Cup game.
NEW YORK 1, VANCOUVER 2
Vancouver goalkeeper David Ousted saved two penalties as the Whitecaps won 2-1 at the New York Red Bulls to move level with Seattle atop the standings.
Bradley Wright-Phillips took the penalties in the fifth and the 65th minutes -- and both went waist high and to Ousted's right.
Kekuta Manneh opened the scoring with a close-range goal in the 15th minute, and Kianz Froese added another for the Whitecaps on a breakaway in the 77th.
Anatole Abang pulled New York back within one in the 82nd, but Ousted made his most difficult save of the match a minute later, diving and deflecting Manolo Sanchez's low-skipping shot out of play.
The Red Bulls played a man down from the 11th minute when Sacha Kljestan picked up the red card for elbowing an opponent, and the New York fell to its fourth straight loss.
PORTLAND 2, HOUSTON 0
Portland's Maximiliano Urruti and Gaston Fernandez scored to lift the Timbers over Houston.
The Timbers opened the scoring in the 34th minute, when Urruti headed a free kick by Jorge Villafana into the upper right corner.
Fernandez converted a penalty in the 60th minute after Rodney Wallace was fouled.
LOS ANGELES 5, PHILADELPHIA 1
Los Angeles' Gyasi Zardes had a goal and set up two others as the Galaxy cruised past Philadelphia in the teams' only meeting this season.
Baggio Husidic opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after Zardes' shot rebounded squarely off the post.
The Galaxy doubled their lead in the 35th when Zardes cut a cross back to Juninho, who blasted home.
Robbie Keane delivered a wide cross past four defenders to set up Zardes in the 56th minute.
C.J. Sapong put the Union on the board in the 58th minute with a turnaround blast.
MONTREAL 2, ORLANDO CITY 0
Montreal's Donny Toia scored his first Major League Soccer goal, helping the Impact beat Orlando City.
Dominic Oduro also scored in stoppage time for the Impact, who have won four in a row at home.
First-year club Orlando City had been unbeaten in its previous five games.
TORONTO 0, NEW YORK CITY 2
New York City's David Villa scored twice to secure victory at Toronto.
Villa converted a penalty in the eighth minute after Benoit Cheyrou committed a hand ball in the box.
Villa got his second of the night when New York pounced on a soft pass from Toronto goalkeeper Chris Konopka to defender Eriq Zavaleta. The turnover proved costly, gifting an easy goal for the former Valencia and Barcelona star in the 58th minute.
