Chinese spouse sets example for Micro Start-up Programs

Hu Li, a Chinese spouse, set a successful example for starting up her own business. She gave up a well-paid position in China 13 years ago in order to get married to her husband and then moved to Taiwan. After their child was born, her husband encouraged her to start working, and due to her family’s preference for meat, she kept trying to make homemade jerky, and became famous right after she started to sell it. She joined the Phoenix Micro Start-up Program launched by the Ministry of Labor (MOL), and went to the training course which enabled her to learn the skills necessary to run a business, achieving stable growth in profits in the past five years.

Hu has been working in the food industry for many years. She insists on using healthy and good quality materials, and fresh meat for her products. She also generously provides samples to customers, attracting more and more clients to visit her stand. From selling the jerky in the traditional market, she got more and more popular day by day, and now you can find her products at supermarkets, food stalls at department stores, and highway service areas. She now makes NT$6 million profit every year and won the 2013 exemplary micro start-up award.
