Cancer tops the major causes of death for 33 consecutive years

Ministry of Health and Welfare announced the top 10 major causes of death in Taiwan for 2014. Unsurprisingly, cancer tops the chart again for the last 33 years. Cancer has killed a patient every 11 minutes and 24 seconds in 2014, which is 20 seconds faster than 2013.

A total number of mortality was 162,991 in 2014 and 46,094 of them were killed by cancer.

The other major causes of death are mainly chronic diseases such as brain tumors, respiratory disease, diabetes, ischaemic heart disease, stroke, pneumonia, kidney and liver diseases.
