New Taipei City holds new immigrant cooking contest

New Taipei City Education Bureau held a cooking contest featuring multicultural elements in cooperation with Juang Jing Vocational High School. New immigrants in 18 small groups worked together to prepare a variety of exotic dishes.

An Indonesian-born new immigrant who made NasiKuning was awarded for creativity. "NasiKuning," according to this Indonesian contestant, means harvest in Indonesia, where most Indonesians cook the dish during festivities to mark this special day. Two daughters of the Indonesian spouse said not only can their mother make good Indonesian food, but can also rustle up delicious Taiwanese food.

Winners were selected in the categories of creativity, scrumptiousness, and formation. The awards also came with a NT$5,000 cash bonus.
