Legislature confirms grand justice nominations

Taipei, June 12 (CNA) The Legislative Yuan confirmed Friday four nominations by President Ma Ying-jeou for grand justices, making all 15 justices of the Constitutional Court Ma's appointees. The four nominees are lawyer Huang Horng-shya (???), Deputy Minister of Justice Wu Chen-huan (???), National Taiwan University law professor Tsai Ming-cheng (???) and Shilin District Court President Lin Jyun-yi (???). There are 112 seats in the legislature, and nominees must obtain half of the votes to consider their motion passed. Huang obtained 71 "yes" votes, 34 "no" votes, and 4 "invalid" votes; Wu got 65 "yes" votes, 41 "no" votes, and three "invalid" votes; Tsai obtained 79 "yes" votes, 28 "no" votes, and two "invalid" votes; and Lin got 63 "yes" votes, 44 "no" votes, and two "invalid" votes.
