More and more Hong Kong students study in Taiwan

Education ministry statistics show the number of Hong Kong students in Taiwan rose from 989 in 2003 to 5,806 in 2013. With the relaxation of requirements for working visa, more and more exchange students are expected to become immigrants in Taiwan.

Lee Guan-Jian, an assistant professor at National Chi Nan University, stated that he would suggest students from Hong Kong pursue their academic careers in Taiwan due to the diversity of academic disciplines and the friendly environment. Lin Le-ting, who studies information management at Donghua University, also said that the main reason she decided to come to college here is because of the wide variety of choices and cheap tuition, and she enjoys the life in Taiwan very much.

Chang Shao-chuan, the manager of Centaline Property, is also an immigrant from Hong Kong who used to go to college in Taiwan. He said that the 2,000 working opportunities for foreign students provided by the government form part of a wise policy, and those students who received higher education in Taiwan will be future talent here.
