SEATTLE (AP) -- The Seattle Sounders have signed Brazilian midfielder Thomas Jaguaribe Bedinelli, who will be eligible to play immediately.
Seattle announced the signing of the 22-year-old on Monday; he goes simply by Thomas. The Sounders have already received his international paperwork, making him eligible to play for the club right away.
Thomas made 61 appearances in Brazil's professional leagues from 2011-15, including 19 for Flamengo in the Brazilian Serie A from 2011-13. He was loaned to Siena of Serie B in Italy for the 2013-14 season and made 12 appearances there before returning to Brazil last season, where he played for Ponte Preta.
Sounders technical director Chris Henderson says the club has been tracking Thomas for three seasons in the hopes of bringing him to Seattle.
