Taiwan-EU cooperation further enhanced through EEN participation

The Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) announced Sunday that Taiwan officially became a new member of the European Enterprise Network (EEN), which serves as a platform for cooperation between SMEs from Taiwan and the European Union.

European Enterprise Network Taiwan is a consortium formed by three independent entities – Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA).

With the country’s entry to the EEN, small and medium enterprises from Taiwan can gain customized consulting services and business developments in the EU market, which has more than 23,000 enterprises and 500 million consumers.

The Taiwan-EU collaboration will help boost bilateral economic and trade relations between the two sides, reports said.

As of 2014, the EU is the fifth largest trading partner of Taiwan. Bilateral trade reached US$51 billion last year.
