SYDNEY (AP) -- State rivals the Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys remained on top of the National Rugby League with 12th-round wins, including the Cowboys' ninth victory in a row.
Second rower Gavin Cooper scored a try with a minute remaining to give North Queensland an 18-14 win over the Manly Sea Eagles, while the Broncos beat Canberra 24-12.
The Broncos and Cowboys each have 18 points from nine wins and three losses, but Brisbane is in first place due to a better points differential.
The St. George Illawarra Dragons will have a chance to join the leaders when they play Cronulla in one of two Sunday matches.
The Melbourne Storm can also improve to 12 points if they beat the Sydney Roosters in the final match of the round on Monday.
