Rain forecast through next Monday: CWB

Taipei, May 30 (CNA) Unstable weather was forecast for the coming two days with the approach of a plum rain front, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Saturday. Thunderstorms are likely in northern, central and northeastern Taiwan, while other areas could see showers, forecasters said. The rainfall, however, could help bring down the scorching heat Taiwan has experienced recently, the bureau said, adding that highs in northern Taiwan could drop by six degrees Celsius to around 30 degrees. Taipei Saturday recorded a high of 36.5 degrees, the highest so far this year. The stormy weather could ease up June 2, with cloudy to sunny weather and highs between 32-35 degrees expected islandwide, according to the CWB. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
