After-school classes assist immigrants’ children with manners

The Family and Women & Children Care Association of Pingtung County is starting after-school classes helping students who need assistance in schoolwork.

Association manager Lee Hui-lan was a nun before, but she quit the job and returned to Pingtung County to host the after-school classes. In the class, there are 10 students, seven of them are immigrants’ children. She found that because of different cultures and languages, immigrants' families faced many problems with family and husband, including some related to children’s education in homework and manners. Moreover, immigrants are looked down upon in remote districts.

Lee Hui-lan not only teaches children’s homework and manners but also encourages immigrants to build up confidence, and help them have a better relationship between parents and their children.
