Number of Chinese students in Taiwanese grad schools at its peak

The first wave of Chinese students who came to study in Taiwanese universities will be graduating this year. Total of 300 students came to Taiwan and half of them are accepted to continue their masters in Taiwan. This day, the number of Chinese students who study master in Taiwan reaches its peak.

According to the University Committee for the Mainland Chinese Students, the quota for graduate school enrollment is 1,566 students; the final number of enrollment is 1095 students, which is 246 more Chinese students than last year (849 students). Chang Huang-de, the secretary general of the University Committee for the Mainland Chinese Students thinks the increase in number of Chinese students is related to the augmentation of openness in university enrollment of Chinese students. Chang said the first batch of Chinese students that came to Taiwan to study in 2011 was around 600 people.

Among them, 300 students successfully enroll in the graduate schools in June 2015. Since last year, the government recognizes the diploma of Macau’s universities has boosted the number of enrollment this year.
The hottest major for the Chinese students is electrical and electronic engineering, there are a total of 92 students enroll in this department. The second hottest major is management related, where 90 students are enrolled in this department. The third hottest major is finance, where 88 students are enrolled in this department.
