ROAD TOWN, British Virgin Islands (AP) -- The British Virgin Islands has released a list of 42 candidates nominated by voters for the upcoming general election.
The government said in a statement Saturday that the majority of candidates represent the ruling National Democratic Party or the opposition Virgin Islands Party. Voters nominated the candidates on Friday.
The British territory is scheduled to hold elections on June 8.
Orlando Smith is currently the premier of the British Virgin Islands and he faces opposition leader Ralph O'Neal.
